In addition to a chance to enjoy a delicious meal and the company of other artists, the program during the banquet offers some special features. Banquet tickets are $55.00 each and should be purchased at the same time you register for the convention. Once you have registered, you can go back online and add additional banquet tickets to your purchase. There is a choice of Beef, Salmon or a Vegetarian entrée. If you have special dietary needs please make a note when ordering and the hotel will do their best to comply.

We must give final numbers to the hotel a few days before the event. Some banquet tickets may be on sale in Albuquerque on Wednesday or Thursday, but this will be subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed, so we urge you to prebook online.

Keynote Presentation

Esther Bell The Keynote speaker for the 2015 IAPS Convention will be Esther Bell, PhD. Bell has been named the new Curator in Charge of European Paintings, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. A specialist in 17th- and 18th-century European painting, Bell has held positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Morgan Library & Museum and, most recently, at the Cincinnati Art Museum, where she organized the 2013 exhibit, "Degas, Renoir and Poetic Pastels." She received her doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and was a Fulbright Scholar with an affiliation at the Musée du Louvre.

Presentation of Master Circle Medallions and EMINENT PASTELIST AWARDS

At each Convention, artists who have accumulated sufficient points by acceptance and/or awards in IAPS exhibitions to reach Master Circle status receive their Gold Medallions. These are a beautiful and enduring symbol of achievement. Once reaching Master Circle status, artists can continue to accrue points for the designation of Eminent Pastelist. For more information about these awards and recipients, see the IAPS Honors pages.

Presentation of Golden Mentor Awards

There are people whose efforts create opportunities for others; individuals who support the medium of pastel and the IAPS organization, giving unselfishly of their time and energies so that others may benefit. We acknowledge these people at each Convention with the Golden Mentor Award. For a list of previous honorees, see the Golden Mentor page.
